The Observatory Cafe is situated in Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra opposite the Shrine of
Remembrance, in the heart of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It neighbours the old Observatory buildings (1861) and
is located next to the Royal Botanic Gardens visitors centre. As you
will see by the pictures located to the right, this unique setting
has been optimised with the use of sheer glass walling, allowing unspoilt views of the
surrounding gardens. The cafe also offers a range of different environments
in which to dine, with the contrasting use of timber, steel and
glass, combined with the stunning garden setting, making each table unique.
Renowned restaurateurs Pitzy and Anne Folk, responsible for a number of popular Melbourne eateries, are owners and proprietors of the cafe.
Their menu consists of classics with a twist, incorporating the
following items:
- Breakfast all day
- Daily menu specials
- Menu ranges from gourmet sandwiches, gourmet pizzas & pies, and
fresh salads
- Cakes and ice cream
- Fully licensed
Children, dogs and of course people are welcome!
OPENING TIMES: 7am to 5pm daily
Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day only
